Detroit Lions almost fall in a trap, beat winless Browns

Cleveland Browns

Matthew Stafford threw three touchdown passes and the Lions avoided an upset on Sunday, beating the winless Cleveland Browns 38-24 at Ford Field.

Cody Kessler, who appeared in relief of a struggling Kizer earlier this season, replaced him. It's the fourth defensive score this season for the Lions, seventh fumble recovery this season for the Lions, and first fumble recovery returned for a touchdown for the Lions since October 2015 (36 games). They did the usual on the first series and stalled inside the Detroit Lions' 10 yard line. The rookie passer was able to return late in game, but ended up throwing a game-sealing interception to Lions cornerback Darius Slay.

Detroit closed to within 10-3 with exactly 6:00 left in the initial period on Matt Prater's 46-yard field goal.

The Lions finally put the game away at that point, as wide receiver Golden Tate took a short pass 40 yards for a touchdown that put the Lions up 38-24.

That being said, in addition to the Lions vs. Browns, there are plenty of other games on the NFL Week 10 schedule for you to enjoy. While he wasn't dominant in Sunday's outing, he made an impact with 62 yards - including a 50-yard reception to get Detroit's offense going in the first half. The 21 passes and 232 yards were both the second best totals of Kizer's career, trailing only a game against the Indianapolis Colts when he was 22-for-47 with 242 yards passing. The Lions gummed up the works as the bodies unfolded and the clock expired. Kizer walked minutes later with medical personnel to the locker room with a rib injury. Detroit is now 16-4 all-time against Cleveland, winning the last four meetings.

It also moves the team one game closer to what certainly must be the end of Jackson's tenure as head coach with the Browns.
