PlayStation trophies can now earn PSN credit in America

PlayStation Trophies Now Earn You PSN Credits to Spend

However, and this is a bit of a bummer to a large part of the PlayStation fanbase, the rewards scheme only applies to those in the United States. You can earn #Free Games, movies, music, or just get credit on PSN (PlayStation Network) and get what you want.

If you're excited about getting Reward points from trophies, let us know in the comments section below. Silver, Gold and Platinum trophies will all get you points for credit while Bronze trophies aren't included in the program.

Kotaku noticed a page on the Sony Rewards Passes website that mentions you can earn points by unlocking silver, gold, and platinum trophies in the games you play. Silver and gold trophies normally aren't overly hard to obtain, but you have to play through the whole game to earn all a title has to offer.

The gamer with the most silver, gold and platinum trophies is Roughdaw4 and he can earn $1583 by cashing in his points. Unfortunately, this isn't some kind of retroactive deal where the trophies you've already earned count toward credit, so only trophies you earn after you link your PSN and Sony Rewards accounts will count.

All of this is good news for PlayStation fans but what about Xbox fans? For more rules and clarifications, check out the Sony Rewards FAQ. Sony and PS3 did not include a trophy system at launch but instead added it in a few years later.

PlayStation is not the only platform to offer achievement trophies, but is the first major player to offer associated rewards; both Steam and Xbox offer superficial achievements.

With all that said, there's no timetable as to when Xbox would begin to implement a feature like this or even if they will.
