Gigi Hadid Calls Out Islamophobic Twitter User After NYC Attack

Loomer, who has 108,000 Twitter followers, lamented that she "couldn't find a non Muslim cab or @Uber @lyft driver for over 30 min!"

A pickup driver killed eight people in NY on Tuesday, mowing down cyclists and pedestrians before striking a school bus, in the city's first deadly attack blamed on terror since September 11, 2001.

The driver was identified as 29-year-old Sayfullo Saipov, who planned out the act of terror weeks ahead "in the name of ISIS", according to officials, CNN reports.

Uber on Wednesday evening said in a statement that it was banning Loomer from using its service for violating its Community Guidelines.

Among those complaints, which sparked outrage online, Loomer lamented that she was late to a press conference because she could not find an Uber driver who she did not believe was Muslim.

Gigi hit headlines earlier this year when she posed in a heavily-beaded hijab for the front cover of Vogue Arabia.

Loomer's tweetGigi quickly torched her with an unbelievable and clear comeback And she didn't stop thereYo go, girl!

"Muslims are out in full force at the scene of the NYC #ISIS attack today rubbing it in everyone's face", Loomer wrote.

This is not the first time Uber has banned a far-right activist for problematic behavior.

Zayn has previously opened up about his Muslim background and when asked if he may decide to open up about it one day, he told Complex magazine: 'Who knows? Uber declined to comment on the alleged incident.

"There is simply no place for this type of bigotry, discrimination, and hate", Uber's regional general manager Meghan Verena Joyce said at the time.

Lyft did not respond to Business Insider's request for comment about whether Loomer was banned from its platform. She and a friend have already filed another suit against Uber, claiming that a Muslim driver refused to transport them after he heard them talking about Rosh Hashanah.
