Deshaun Watson named AFC Offensive Player of the Month

NFL awards keep piling up for rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson

The Houston Texans feared that rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson suffered a torn ACL in practice on Thursday, and those fears have been confirmed, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Watching anyone go down with a season-ending injury is brutal, but watching Watson get sidelined really stings.

Former Clemson star and current Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson was honored for his play in the month of October on Thursday.

More bad National Football League injury news came today, this time in Houston. Watson got up and walked before his knee was looked at, though he didn't finish practice. He passed for 402 yards and four touchdowns in the Texans' 41-38 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in one of the most exciting games of the season.

That performance helped make him become the first rookie quarterback to ever win AFC Offensive Player of the Month honour.

Now, Houston will turn to backup Tom Savage this week.

Watson took over the team in the second half of Week 1, and after a slow start in Week 2, has been one of the NFL's most exciting and promising rookies. He led NFL QBs in rushing yards and was tied for first with 19 touchdowns in the air. He has also picked up 269 yards on 36 carries and scored two touchdowns on the ground.
