BJP irks critics for demanding cuts in Tamil movie 'Mersal'

Mersal has cost over Rs 100 crore to its producers Sri Thenandal Films

In this film, Vijay's dialogues intend that there is no free health care rather than the "GST" in India and Singapore is having the free health care than the GST.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi has told Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to "interfere" in the Tamil film "Mersal". The film is doing extraordinary business in Tamil Nadu and overseas alike and thanks to the controversy over GST dialogues, film started doing well in non-Tamil markets as well.

While the producers of the film have offered to delete the scene that has also gone viral on the Internet because of the 'factual inaccuracies' pointed by Tamil Nadu BJP, the reactions have led to a great surge in the demand for tickets.

Mersal was certified. Dont re-censor it.

The issue got further communalised when a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member said that Vijay took an anti-GST stance only because he is a Christian. "Dont silence critics. India will shine when it speaks", he tweeted. "If there are any views in the film that can create misunderstanding and they need to be removed, we are ready to do it". On Friday, Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan said it is important to cut down the dialogue that actor Vijay termed untruths about the Goods and Services Tax. Now, few of the people from BJP party demand to remove this scene from the film. Dont re-censor it. Counter criticism with logical response.

Vijay, Mersal movie released today i.e; 18th October 2017 for Diwali festival.

Summary: "None had demanded a ban on films criticising the policies of the governments".

On Sunday night, Rajinikanth took to his official Twitter account to express his support for Mersal.

Incidentally, Parasakti was a film that was penned by DMK leader Karunanidhi, which had late Shivaji Ganesan in the lead role.
