De Bruyne: Man City, United fighting for title

City and United have shown dominant all-round performances to establish themselves at the top but De Bruyne, who has provided five assists and scored once for City in the league so far, would take nothing for granted.

"Normally when we play worldwide games, I make decisions the night before or the same day to see how the players feel".

City have won 11 of their opening 12 games this season, with the 1-1 draw against Everton with only 10 men their only blip in the Premier League, while they have made a ideal start to their Champions League campaign.

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola says his side can still get better and if that was not a possibility, there was no point. "If you want to win a lot of games, go for titles, the standard has to be set really high constantly", the 26-year-old told Manchester City website.

The Clarets have beaten Chelsea and Everton on the road this year and drawn at Tottenham and Liverpool. I think past year we played good football but, especially in the big games, we didn't win them.

De Bruyne also created Gabriel Jesus's victor on Tuesday night in the 2-1 win over Serie A leaders Napoli that maintained City's flawless start in the Champions League with three wins out of three.

When highlighting the differences this season as compared to last term, he added: "Just that we're winning".

"It depends on everything - you need good play, the atmosphere needs to be good in the group, you need a little bit of luck, you need to be together to win a tournament and hopefully in that time we have it". "But we'll put hard work into it and we have to keep going". "For the moment we have good form, probably we are up there", De Bruyne said.

That City is being mentioned in such terms owes much to De Bruyne's stellar form but the ex-Chelsea man is keen to share the credit around.
