The iPhone 8 isn't looking so great

The Apple Watch 3 is awesome

According to a new report, Apple has now chose to cut iPhone 8 production orders by half.

Cramer said on " Squawk on the Street " that news about supply concerns or iPhone orders has plagued Apple investors "since the beginning of time".

Apple began selling its iPhone 8 on 22 September for $699 (£525) for 64GB handset, whereas the iPhone 8 Plus will set buyers back by $799 (£600).

A report out of Taiwan today claims that Apple is cutting its production orders for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus by as much as 50 percent for the month of November and December.

So, what is causing the slow intake of the iPhone 8 among the American people, a market where the iPhone has generally performed much better than in other markets across the globe? So far, we've already heard reports that many fans are holding out for the release of the iPhone X, the company's high-end phone this year, ahead of the iPhone 8 Plus, which would otherwise have been the high-end offering.

Apple (NASDAQ AAPL) traded down 2.82% during mid-day trading on Tuesday, reaching $155.26. While the iPhone X includes a full-face organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display and an all-new aesthetic, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus continue to use older liquid crystal displays (LCDs) and identical form factors to their predecessors.

This year, Apple can market the iPhone X at a starting price of $999 while still letting users who want the latest iPhone technologies, such as the improved cameras and upgraded internals, to buy new devices (the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus) at familiar price points of $699 and $799.

"Apple is hoping the later availability date for iPhone X will not affect iPhone 8 sales this quarter", Ian Fogg, mobile and telecoms analyst at IHS has previously said. "(But) this is the early innings of what we believe is the biggest iPhone product cycle with X leading the way".

While the iPhone 8 is now being sold, the iPhone X will be released on the 3rd of November, but the units will still be sold sparingly until next year.
