Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp Wary Of Underestimating Maribor

Jurgen Klopp

"No chance. Everybody thinks ahead of a game like this, "this is the place where you can rotate". They have also never kept a clean sheet in those eight games.

Liverpool are two points behind Group E leaders Sevilla ahead of the meeting with the Slovenian champions and Klopp has challenged his side to get the sort of result that he feels their recent displays deserve.

But the former Borussia Dortmund boss was quick to defend his team after a run of just one win from their last eight matches ahead of Tuesday's clash with Maribor, claiming his side can not be blamed for the defeat to City that sparked their poor period of results.

Klopp intends to keep changes to a minimum but could give Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain his first Champions League start for the club.

The injury-prone England global has looked a shadow of the player who scored 24 goals in 33 games in his first season at Anfield and would be fortunate to lead the line against Maribor, although Klopp may be tempted to drop Roberto Firmino to the bench ahead of another grueling schedule.

Jurgen Klopp has told Liverpool not to underestimate Maribor as the Reds seek to claim their first win in this season's Champions League proper.

"Maribor is a top team in Slovenia so they usually have to make the game, attack, do a lot of offensive things". They haven't reached the knockout stages of the competition since 2008/09.

There hasn't been a match with more than two goals scored during Maribor's last 15 home UEFA Champions League matches (includes qualifying). "I can not now mention it if I need it and then when I don't need it then I say it's not important", continued the boss.

"So far it has been okay but not what we know he is able to do".

"We have a good record against English teams, in European competition, with one home win and two draws", The Mirror quotes Pihler as saying. I think this will be another tough night for Liverpool. "I said he needed a little bit of time and my most positive thing was that finally he has arrived, but it always takes time".
