Champions League: Henry Onyekuru to earn extra £35000 if Anderlecht beat Celtic

Brendan Rodgers calls Celtic's 3-0 Champions League win over Anderlecht a "brilliant team performance" and insists that the Hoops can get even better.

The SPFL title holders and current league leaders were rock solid at the back from the first whistle, with 'keeper Craig Gordon keeping a clean sheet, while Celtic were absolutely clinical in attack, both elements of the performance pleasing the Celtic coach.

Tom Rogic and Celtic secured an important Champions League victory overnight, defeating Belgians RSC Anderlecht 3-0 away from home.

Olivier Ntcham thread a delightful through ball to left-back Kieran Tierney, who found the Scottish striker from inside the six yard box in the 38th minute.

A first away win in the group stage since 2012 for Scotland's champions, goals from Leigh Griffiths, Patrick Roberts and Scott Sinclair placed the Parkhead side in pole position for third place in GRoup B and Europa League football after Christmas.

"We get our first goal from a great move".

Despite Celtic being strong domestically, their Champions League form has been poor and they were defeated 5-0 by PSG two weeks ago.

"Defensively we were exceptional in terms of our pressing and trying to get the ball back", Rodgers continued. This is a huge jump from where we're coming from into this level.

"They could have scored a few more.

When we are as convincing as that I think people will say: "Actually, they are a very good team". What can be said with confidence is that the manner of the win in Belgium has instilled fresh belief into a squad which remains relatively inexperienced in Champions League terms. The three goals were absolutely fantastic and the boys deserve a great amount of credit.

Scott Sinclair added shine to the scoreline in stoppage-time, but Rodgers will not underestimate the huge task that still faces his side in attempting to qualify from a group that also includes Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich. I believe we can be better than we were tonight.
