Jaguar Land Rover plans to electrify every model from 2020

Jaguar Land Rover has also revealed its new Future Type virtual concept

Jaguar just unveiled the fully electric E-Type Zero at its Tech Fest in London, and my goodness is it gorgeous.

JLR also showcased its vision for the vehicle of 2040 and beyond.

The vehicle design is based on the 1968 Series 1.5 Jaguar E-type Roadster.

Summoning the auto is done via Sayer, a steering wheel that doubles as a personal companion and resides with you at all times. The automaker also used the event to announce a commitment to a fully electrified lineup as well as unveil an electric E-Type.

Between 2019 and 2021, Volvo plans to launch five new electric vehicles, while every other auto in the range will feature some form of hybrid engine.

"We will introduce a portfolio of electrified vehicles across our model range, embracing fully electric, plug-in hybrids and mild hybrid cars and SUVs".

Jaguar Classic says that the newly developed electric powertrain isn't just suitable for the E-type.

Jaguar says the steering wheel could be the only part of a vehicle people own in the future as the industry moves toward autonomous cars for hire.

Our aim with the E-type Zero is to future-proof classic auto ownership.

"In order to seamlessly combine the new electric powertrain of E-type Zero with the dynamic set-up of the original E-type specification, we have limited the vehicle's power output. We're looking forward to the reaction of our clients as we investigate bringing this concept to market". Its first electric model, the I-PACE, will be built in Austria.

JAGUAR and Land Rover will fill their showrooms with electrons, announcing an aggressive push into hybrid and battery-fuelled vehicles.

Jaguar's concept is called the Future-Type, and the good news for fans of the brand is that the concept still has a steering wheel.

Beyond the I-Pace, other electric vehicles in JLR's range will include an updated version of its classic E-Type and a driverless concept auto known as the Future-Type, which has a steering wheel that communicates with the driver.

It also launched a major recruitment drive for as many as 1,000 electronic and software engineers in collaboration with the pop group Gorillaz, in a move touted at the time as being crucial to developing the software and hardware necessary for electric and autonomous cars.
