LG's V30 halves its display count but doubles down on cameras

We've also seen two more features touted in the camera department, in the form of LG Cine-Log and Graphy.

The first thing you'll notice about the LG V30 is that it's very similar to the G6, with its beautifully large, almost bezel-less display - a screen that stretches to nearly every corner of the device. Instead, LG has introduced a Floating Bar which displays shortcuts and can be disabled when not required.

But that's where the similarity ends.

The dual rear-camera set up houses one 16MP standard angle lens with f/1.6 aperture and a second 13MP wide angle lens with a smaller f/1.9 aperture.

To that dual camera hardware LG has added a host of new software features, including a new "Cine Video" mode which allows users to apply filters to their videos in much the same way users now apply filters to photographs, and which also allows for slow, cinema-style zooms.

Interested buyers in the U.S. can pre-order the LG V30 on September 17 with an on sale date of September 28.

You have left for this month.

The V30 does not come with flat sides anymore.

The LG V30 comes loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat, with a barely-there LG UX 6.0 skin, which could fool some into thinking it's a vanilla Android phone. If you thought the LG V20 had a great camera, the LG V30 takes it some notches higher. It comes in Aurora Black, Cloud Silver, Moroccan Blue and Lavender Violet colours.

On the audio front, the V30 is equipped with a Hi-Fi Quad DAC with audio tuning by B&O PLAY for an authentic and superior acoustic experience.

Talking about the LG V30 release date, the device will be available from September 21 in South Korea. The phone also comes with a glass lens that promises more accurate colors and vibrant images than using a plastic lens.

You can use face recognition with the 5Mp front camera or voice recognition to unlock the phone even when the display is in standby mode, but there's also a fingerprint scanner on the rear. The LG V30 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, 2.4GHz octa-core processor, 4 GB RAM and 64GB/128GB onboard storage with up to 2TB of expandable storage via a microSD card. It comes in 64GB in-built storage options, which can be further expanded upto 128GB.

The LG V30 is the company's "phablet" device as it looks to take advantage of the trend towards bigger screens. Other features include point zoom, which allows you to tap anywhere on the screen to lock your focus and zoom and the LG's CineLog format for easier color grading. Before we forget, YouTubers will also get excellent audio recording capabilities where the receiver doubles as a microphone to capture audio of a wider spectrum.

Aside from that you'll find the usual list of premium-tier smartphone features including Quick Charge 3.0, QHD+ display, 802.11ac Wifi support, and Bluetooth 5.0.
