More Showers & Storms Possible Late Wednesday

Shower chances return off-and-on for the next five days

A shortwave of energy is going to brings showers and a few light thunderstorms over the mountains starting in the afternoon and lasting through the evening. Those small shower and t-storms chances will linger into Friday morning with a 30% chance before we're left with just clouds by the afternoon.

AccuWeather reports that while Tuesday is expected to be drier, and the weather service forecasting partly sunny skies with temperatures in the lower 70s, more rain is likely mid-week. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 73. As of right now it appears that our threat for severe weather is looking rather low. With so many outdoor plans for the holiday weekend, our meteorologists will be providing more updates throughout the week and alert you of any changes in the forecast. Winds will be breezy, out of the south at 10 to 20 miles per hour. Much of the East will be near or slightly above average. There may be a stray shower or two in the morning, otherwise, clouds break up and drier air returns as winds pick up out of the northwest.

Dry Areas: Odds are high that the West and the northern and central Plains should escape any major precipitation worries, although portions of the northern Plains may experience breezy conditions. Winds will still be breezy, out of the southwest at 10 to 20 miles per hour with temperatures in the 60s & 70s and muggy.

Temperatures are expected to warm into the 70s, with some places nearing 80° during the afternoon.

Showers will linger through Thursday. The next front attempts to lift through the area Sunday. Scattered thunderstorms could billow up toward the Gulf Coast, as well.

The countdown to Race Day continues. Saturday night will be partly cloudy with lows in the mid-60s. High near 68. East wind 6 to 11 miles per hour.
